Dr Jayne Camuglia

Dr Camuglia is a general ophthalmologist and has done further subspecialty fellowship training in paediatric and strabismus to broaden the scope of her practice to all ages.

She graduated with Bachelors of Science and later Medicine/Surgery at the University of Queensland and then trained in Victoria and Queensland, completing her ophthalmology training in 2015.

She obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and is a member of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO).

Dr Camuglia’s areas of interest and expertise include:

  • Cataract surgery for adults and children
  • Strabismus for adults and children
  • Macular degeneration
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Premature babies
  • Retinoblastoma

Dr Camuglia has published papers extensively in strabismus and multiple book chapters for internationally recognized textbooks. She was a member of the Qualifications and Education committee responsible for selection and training of ophthalmology registrars in 2017-2021.

She consults predominantly at Valley Eye Specialists but is able to provide consultation at Greenslopes Hospital/Mater Mothers Hospital/Wesley Hospital to see newborn/premature babies. She has held a public appointment as a VMO at the Queensland Children’s Hospital since 2017 where she treats patients with Retinoblastoma.

Dr Camuglia operates at Queensland Eye Hospital, Spring Hill and North West Private Hospital, Everton Park and publically at Queensland Children’s Hospital. These locations are also able to offer surgery for uninsured patients.

She is thorough and kind and takes a holistic approach to providing care and treatment for all ages. Her practice at Valley Eye Specialists has limited free parking onsite, wheelchair accessible and close to bus/train public transport. The modern industrial designed clinic is fully equipped with the latest technology, and the assistance from professional and caring technicians enable a comfortable and comprehensive assessment from newborns to the elderly.

In her spare time, she enjoys time at home or the beach with her husband and four young children.
